Chairmen in protest

David Burns the under pressure Football League Chief Executive
They are there in an attempt to further embarrass the two companies who have failed to pay up the money owed to the clubs by the now defunct ITV Digital, a company owned by Carlton and Granada. They will march to the two companies behind a banner proclaiming, "Football League Health Warning: Carlton & Granada may seriously damage your sport".

Quite how many of the chairmen will be there though is open to debate. Certainly Clarets' chief Barry Kilby won't be there, he is currently out of the country on holiday, and our club will be represented by Chief Executive Andrew Watson who will probably be delighted that he is able to attend.

The Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan, one of the chairmen in dispute with the league over the Sky deal, will not be there. He is sending his club secretary whilst Millwall chairman Theo Paphitis has elected to snub the entire event. Paphitis has called it an entirely redundant exercise.

It won't be all sweetness and light either with a number of chairmen now gunning for The Football League's David Burns. It appears, as we reported a few days ago, that some clubs were in the know on the Sky deal and some not. Burns will do well to survive this.

Friday will see Burnley fans picketing in London, joined by supporters of Brighton, the two Bristol clubs, Bury and Cambridge. Many of those representing the Clarets will be from the London Clarets and if you want to join them check out the London Clarets web site for full details.
