Chadwick will miss kick off

Chadwick has had further surgery during the close season on his jaw, this a second operation following one a year earlier and will not be able to play possibly until September.

Obviously the Clarets were fully aware of this when they signed the Manchester United winger last week and Stan today told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph,

"Luke has had an operation on his jaw as part of a two-year treatment. Last year he had some work done and more this year - and he might not be able to play until September.

"It depends on the specialist and although we've been told he can take part in knock-abouts, as soon as there is contact we have to stop. He won't start the season that's for sure, but I knew that when I signed him. He is fit enough to play, but he won't be ready."

With news filtering through of problems for Arthur Gnohere and Robbie Blake and even more worrying news that Mark McGregor could have a serious injury the Turf Moor numbers are already looking depleted as we build up towards the new season.

But Barry Kilby did say that nine or ten new players would be joining us which does at least suggest that another five should be on there way.

For the Clarets fans though it will be a longer wait than expected before we see Luke Chadwick in the Claret & Blue number 18 shirt.
