Carlisle again - Villa and now QPR

Clarke Carlisle
Carlisle seems to be making up for lost time having returned to the side after serving a three match ban. He was in top form at Villa Park, and scored our equaliser, and back at one of his old grounds Loftus Road he continued that form alongside Michael Duff.

The two central defenders were, without doubt, the rock on which this performance was built and the two of them took the top two places in both the man of the match vote and the message board's player ratings.

Carlisle came out on top in both. He claimed 36.1% of the man of the match vote and that was more than twice as many as Duff who won 17.0%. It was a real battle for third place with Lee Grant just about beating Dean Marney with 10.4% of the vote.

In the player ratings, a rating of 8.85 out of 10 gave Carlisle another first place with Duff behind him with a rating of 8.38. This time Marney did get third place with a rating of 7.62 out of 10.

This gives Carlisle six points towards the Clarets Mad Player of the Year. There are four points for Duff and one each for Grant and Marney. It's been some time since the pairing of Cork and Eagles didn't pick up points in a league game but that came about with Eagles replaced at half time and Cork suffering illness.

The points have seen Carlisle climb closer to the top three and he now sits just five points behind Andre Bikey having pulled well clear of fifth place Wade Elliott.

With no midweek game, voting is currently in progress for the October Goal of the Month. That poll, as always, is on the front page of the site and will run until the end of Friday.
