It was the talking point on the way home from Reading and the suggestions coming out of Turf Moor yesterday were that Cahill was the number one target to fill that gap. Manager Steve Cotterill has now confirmed that, and has also said that we have tried on occasions before to bring him back in.
Gary though is trying to break into the Villa side and play Premiership football and Steve Cotterill said, “It ends up being a problem for us because they obviously want to try and get him into the team and Gary also wants to make an impression there too.
“He obviously has a chance of playing there now, but they did help us out tremendously last season by giving us Gary on loan. He was fantastic for us, we have nothing but praise for the lad, and we just want to once again thank them for their help and wish Gary all the best for the future.”
Cahill is still waiting for his first Premiership call up but he’s getting closer and has now been on the bench on three occasions this season.
