Cahill completes the defence

Current first team coach Steve Davis had won the first central defensive position and the second vote started on Friday with Cahill, runner up in the first vote, the clear favourite to take the last place.

Another massive vote, almost 6,500 have voted so far, saw Cahill claim 41.4% to ensure the win. He was with the Clarets during the 2004/05 season. Then a youngster with no first team experience he settled in quickly and established himself as a first team player.

Such was his quick progress that manager Steve Cotterill moved to get his loan extended from the initial first month until the end of the season. He played alongside both John McGreal and Frank Sinclair, two vastly experienced defenders who were both excellent for the Clarets.

It was McGreal who came second in this vote with 25.2% of the vote and that was just more than our current players Clarke Carlisle and Steven Caldwell together. Carlisle came third with 14.7% whilst 8.0% of the vote was enough to give Caldwell fourth place.

That's the back four complete with Michael Duff, Steve Davis, Gary Cahill and Jon Harley in front of Brian Jensen in goal. Now we turn out attentions to the midfield and to start the intriguing vote to select the player to play on the right hand side.

That voting us underway and will run until the end of Thursday. As always it can be found on the front page of the site.
