Cadamarteri gets a three match ban

He was dismissed by referee Mike Dean for elbowing Dean West but it was a decision that most Burnley fans would not have been able to see very well at the time.

Referee Dean was close to the action and had no doubt whatsoever in giving the former Everton striker a straight red card. Apparently though he was not guilt, according to his manager Nicky Law, and an appeal was lodged with the referee agreeing to look at it on video.

Fred was in no real doubt as to what had happened and according to those who saw him had a visible facial injury. He though has remained low key whilst the authorities made their mind up.

I've now seen the incident on video a number of times and still find it difficult to tell but there is no doubt that Cadamarteri's arm is raised. Dean, who was certain at the time, has not changed his mind though and the player will now begin a three match ban on Saturday.

He has become the second player to be sent off against us recently to lose an appeal. Stoke made an unsuccessful attempt to get Tommy Mooney's red card rescinded. That appeal left me baffled, it is clear on the video that he at the very least treads on Tony Grant's ankle.

The Bradford referee was apparently locked in long discussions with assessor and Orient game referee George Courtney and with no change of mind it certainly looks as though that decision was also correct.
