Buzzer Junior at the Turf

Summerbee was released by Leicester City at the end of last season having spent a year with them, initially agreeing to play for expenses only. He was used mostly as a substitute by Micky Adams last season and in fact came on as a sub in both games against the Clarets.

The 32 year-old winger is very close to having played 400 league games with the first of those appearances at his first club Swindon Town before two big money moves saw him play for Manchester City and then Sunderland where he enjoyed great success, particularly at Sunderland.

It all went sour though for him at the Stadium of Light and after leaving there two years ago he has had spells with Bolton, Manchester city again and Nottingham Forest before his year at Leicester where his last appearance was as a substitute for Frank Sinclair on the last day of last season.

Stan has said we are having a look at him but admitted he didn’t know whether we would be able to afford him although as a right-winger he plays in a position where things are not too critical just now.

He is the son of former Claret Mike Summerbee and if he did play for the Clarets they would join a very small group of fathers an sons to have worn the Claret & Blue alongside the Millers, the Joyces and the Scotts.
