He was at Brunton Park on the opening day of the season where he brought Chris Brass’ league debut as a player/manager to an abrupt end sending him and Carlisle’s Steve Livingstone off.
Only this week Brass has failed in an appeal and, along with Livingstone, will begin to serve a three match suspension this weekend. To add to that there were two yellow cards for each side in the game.
He had a quieter night in the Carling Cup with just two yellow cards in the game between Boston United and Reading but last Saturday handed out six in the Division Three game at Bury who were beaten by Scunthorpe.
Worryingly all of his three matches this season have ended in away wins and this pattern needs to be broken tomorrow. His last appearance at the Turf though did end in a 1-0 win against Blackpool four seasons ago.
His last Burnley game was as recent as last March when we were soundly beaten 4-2 by Sheffield United at Bramall Lane. In a game where there wasn’t one bad foul he managed to book a total of six players including Burnley’s Graham Branch, Lee Briscoe, Glen Little, Gareth Taylor and Paul Weller.
His record last season though was not excessive and there were 85 yellow and 5 red cards in a total of 29 games.
