Burnley's squad of 25

Some say we have a small squad but from next season that will be the maximum allowed in the Premier League following an agreement made between the club's yesterday.

At the closing of each window clubs will have to declare their squad with no more than 25 players and there are also some restrictions on that. From that squad at least eight of them must be home grown players.

A home grown player is one who has been registered with any club affiliated to the Football Association or the Football Association of Wales for a period of three entire seasons prior to his 21st birthday.

We currently have 15 players in the 25 who fall into that category so we will have no problems ahead of next season's Premier League season.

Those who fit the criteria are: Graham Alexander, Michael Duff, Clarke Carlisle, Steven Caldwell, Martin Paterson, Wade Elliott, Tyrone Mears, David Edgar, Chris McCann, Richard Eckersley, Jay Rodriguez, Robbie Blake, David Nugent, Stephen Jordan, Chris Eagles.

Those who don't fit the criteria are: Diego Penny, Christian Kalvenes, Kevin McDonald, Joey Gudjonsson, Steven Fletcher, Brian Jensen, Andre Bikey, Brian Easton, Steven Thompson, Fernando Guerrero.

There is a relaxation with an unlimited number of players under the age of 21 permitted. That first team squad listed above includes five players under 21 at the start of 2009.
