Burnley want Bruce

Coyle has admitted recently that he'd like to bring in a new defender and it has emerged this morning that Bruce, son of Wigan boss Steve Bruce, is the target.

The 23-year-old started his career with his dad at Birmingham and had loan spells with Oldham, Sheffield Wednesday and Tranmere before moving to Ipswich in the summer of 2006. He's played 77 league games for the Tractor Boys in the last two seasons, all but two of them having been starts.

He was an unused sub for their opening league game last week against Preston but did play in the Carling Cup tie against Leyton Orient on Tuesday.

Reports suggest that the Republic of Ireland international wants to move back north and that Gary McAllister is also keen to take him to Elland Road.
