Burnley to face Plymouth at home in cup

Last updated : 15 August 2012 By Tony Scholes

It was probably as good as it could be. We knew we were seeded but to get a home tie against one of the more lowly clubs from League Two is probably just what most of us wanted and it is a tie that we should really win to give us a passage into the last 32 of the competition.

Plymouth won through last night with a comprehensive 3-0 win against a team playing under the name of Portsmouth. In doing so they won a game in this particular competition for the first time since they reached the 3rd round five years ago with wins against Wycombe Wanderers and Doncaster Rovers.

The most likely date for the game is Tuesday 28th August, just two weeks away.
