Burnley set to join the football vodka group

The club have been accused of being unable to acquire any sponsorship from out of town and that was never clearer than when current shirt sponsors Lanway were keen only to continue with sponsorship of a new home kit.

That left the club with a search for an away shirt sponsor and only last week a member of the club’s commercial department told Clarets Mad that it was even possible that there could be a blank shirt again next season.

It doesn’t look as though that will be the case now and we are set to join a number of other clubs in carrying the name of VK Vodka Kick on our shirts, the main product of GBL International.

They first moved into football with a similar deal to sponsor the away shirts of Chesterfield in 2001/02 season and last season added both Mansfield Town and Southport with full shirt sponsorship deals.

Just last month they became the main sponsors of Barnsley Football Club and it is now expected that the Clarets will become the fifth club to be sponsored by the drinks company and we could even carry the name of their new product Vodka Coast.

The club’s retail department told us this week that they were still hoping to have the home kits available by late June or early July but had no information on the away kit which is expected to be silver/grey.
