On Friday night the all action midfielder made his first start for the Republic of Ireland, opening the scoring in their 3-0 win over Algeria.
He'd played for Doncaster in non-league football and was a member of their side who won three promotions to reach the Championship, but on getting there he opted for a move to Pride Park in a three year deal after almost 280 appearances for Doncaster.
In two seasons at Pride Park he's played 77 games, scoring ten goals, and has become a very popular player with the Derby fans.
It has been reported as nothing more than an enquiry although Celtic have already shown interest in him.
