Burnley looking to get McDonald out on loan

McDonald made a substitute appearance at Morecambe but that has been his only first team action this season, and Laws now believes the best action is to get him out on loan to play some football.

He said: "Kevin has maybe fallen from grace a wee bit. He has found himself out of the first eleven and difficult to get on the bench, that's how difficult it is to break into the squad.

"The competition in midfield is as intense as anywhere and everyone is performing well. That makes it difficult to involve Kevin in some capacity, so we have talked about getting him out on loan if we can and we are actively trying to do something.

"As yet, we are waiting for a taker. We have had a couple of enquiries, but do far nothing that floats his boat and so we will continue to monitor it. As long as he knows we are trying to help him that's the main thing because it's important for players of his calibre to get games.

"Like any player, if you are not playing it is difficult to motivate yourself. As Kevin sees it there is probably no light at the end of the tunnel, so we are trying to offer some light by getting him some games.

"If he does go out on loan though it will only be for a short time because I am selfish and I want all my players here fighting for a place."
