Burnley launch appeal against Gudjonsson red card

Joey Gudjonsson
Manager Owen Coyle was clearly unhappy at this decision, as he was with referee Lee Mason's general handling of the game. Coyle believes Gudjonsson did not stamp on the Preston player, and that the referee got it wrong in sending him off.

The club have rightly accepted the three match ban facing Chris McCann. He'll miss the game at Ipswich and the two following home games against Sheffield Wednesday and Bristol City, and will be back in contention for the New Year's Day game at Blackpool.

The hearing regarding Gudjonsson's appeal will be heard tomorrow. If it is successful he'll be free to play at Ipswich. If not he'll miss the same three games as McCann and a further game (the Blackpool game) could be added to his suspension if it is felt the appeal was frivolous.
