Burnley in Bishop hunt

The 25-year-old Bishop has been with the Gigg Lane outfit for two years and it was a move to York two years earlier that got his career moving. He'd started with Walsall but when he left them just before his 22nd birthday he'd still to play in the first team and all his action had been out on loan.

He'd had three separate loans with Kidderminster and then followed that up with two months at Rochdale, all with limited success. It certainly wasn't enough to persuade then Walsall boss Paul Merson to keep him and he was released at the end of the 2003/04 season.

It was then he joined York City, managed by former Claret Chris Brass. They had just been relegated from the Football League and in two years at Bootham Crescent Bishop netted no fewer than 34 goals in 79 league games.

By the summer of 2006 Brass was a player at Bury and it was he that persuaded manager Chris Casper to take him to Gigg Lane and he's gone on to score another 34 league goals in the last two seasons, this time from 87 appearances whilst scoring another 12 in other competitions.

He came close to signing for Crewe last January and whether he signs for the Clarets or not, whether there is anything in the speculation or not, he is expected to move on from Bury this summer.
