Burnley in Bigirimana link

Burnley fans who travelled down to the Ricoh for our Championship game last October will recall that Bigirimana was an influential figure in the result. He was Coventry's best player in a game when it looked as though they were going to take all three points after Cody McDonald had given them the lead just before the hour.

That all changed for both Burnley and Bigirimana. Ross Wallace had equalised for Burnley but it was the dismissal of Bigirimana by card happy referee nine minutes from time that led to a late Clarets' onslaught and a stoppage time winner from Charlie Austin. That all happened on his 18th birthday.

The Burundi born Bigirimana has come through the youth set up at Coventry who is under contract with the Sky Blues until the end of next season. Having made his debut on the opening day of the season, in a home defeat against Leicester, he's gone on to make 21 first team appearances although hasn't figured in the first team since the FA Cup defeat against Southampton in early January.

The link has come out of the blue and on the surface looks to be a real stab in the dark. There seems no reason to suggest that a player currently out of the Coventry side would have a quick impact on our team.

However, Eddie Howe, as he said in January, always has his thoughts on making a signing a permanent one when he brings in a player on loan so he might just be looking at Bigirimana as a potential long term signing.
