Burnley granted a UEFA Licence

It's quite simple. If Fulham win the Europa League next month then Burnley will qualify for the competition next season provided the Premier League remains in the top three fair play leagues and we keep our current position of sixth.

All of the clubs above us, Fulham apart, will qualify for Europe in any case and that would leave the Clarets competing in what is the same competition as the Fairs Cup we played in during the 1966/67 season, our last in Europe.

Fulham were a goal down when I got home from the reserve game last night but I was cheering them on in their semi-final against Hamburg and will now be glued to the television watching their final against Atletico Madrid.

Brian Laws said of it: "Obviously we will be cheering Fulham on, hoping that they do win the competition. It would be nice if it actually happened.

"It would be fantastic for the club and the town. It would give us a big lift from the disappointment of coming out of the Premier League.
