Burnley get the Abbey habit

So we now return to the rare luxury of having two professional goalkeepers for the first time this season after the departures of Marlon and Nik the Greek in May of last year.

Rangers third choice keeper Jesper Christiansen trained with us in December but there was to be no deal and he is now on his way back into Danish football after failing to make an impact after three years in Glasgow.

Abbey has played against the Clarets back in our 2nd Division days when he was at Luton and was in the last Luton team to play against the Clarets when we last visited Kenilworth Road. For the return on a flooded Turf Moor pitch he was on the subs bench.

It is for now a short term deal, he will be with the Clarets for a month and there is no indication as yet as to whether this could be extended. He will wear the number 19 shirt, the number having previously been worn by Delroy Facey.

Welcome to Turf Moor Nathan.
