Burnley picked up another impressive victory on Saturday afternoon, as Sean Dyche's men defeated relegation-threatened Bournemouth by three goals to nil, thanks to strikes from Matej Vydra, Jay Rodriguez and Dwight McNeil.
Bournemouth thought they'd taken the lead in the first half, but Josh King's close-range finish was disallowed due to a dubious handball decision in the buildup. The ball seemed to hit Phillip Billing on the shoulder, but VAR decided that it was enough to rule out the goal, and it was a key moment which would come back to bite the Cherries in the second half.
Vydra opened the scoring with his second goal in two weeks on 53 minutes, racing on to a McNeil through ball and slotting past Aaron Ramsdale, to deepen Eddie Howe's concerns.
Bournemouth's VAR misery was not over just yet however, when absolute chaos ensued on the hour mark. The Cherries were convinced they had equalised through Harry Wilson, but VAR pulled play back for another handball offence in the visitors' penalty area, and the referee ruled the goal out, instead awarding a spot-kick to Burnley.
Rodriguez dispatched the penalty, giving the Clarets a commanding 2-0 lead, and Dyche's men never looked like losing the game from then on. McNeil added a third in the dying minutes of the match, driving at the Bournemouth defence, cutting inside and finishing smartly to cap off an excellent performance from the youngster.
Defeat for Bournemouth means that both West Ham and Watford could overtake them with victories, as the Cherries sit only two points above the relegation zone in 16th place. Burnley move up to eighth with the three points, only one point behind Manchester United, as Dyche's side move well clear of any relegation fears of their own.
The fixture list doesn't get any easier for Howe and his men either, as they face Chelsea and Liverpool in their next two Premier League matches.
