Burnley beaten by Manchester United

Marc Pugh - scored against Manchester United
Rangers’ keeper Jesper Christiansen played the first half when both sides turned out strong teams. Ours was very much a first team whilst Manchester United included Roy Carroll, David Bellion, Diego Forlan, Nicky Butt, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kleberson, Quinton Fortune and Eric Djemba-Djemba as well as Wes Brown for whom the match had been arranged.

Manchester United led 3-1 at half time with Forlan having netted twice, including one from the penalty spot, and a third from former Sunderland player Bellion. Burnley’s reply came from the player who just cannot stop scoring at the moment, Robbie Blake.

Both sides made a number of changes for the second half with most of the well known names coming off. Christiansen, who is believed to be impressing the Burnley coaching staff, made way for Brian Jensen.

There was just one more goal in that second half and it went to Burnley with youth team player Marc Pugh finding the net.

Maybe the performances of some of the youngsters will have given Stan something to think about although he did say on Monday that there were none ready yet for inclusion in the first team squad.

But it was a good work out and will have helped Stan decide where to make changes when we go to Crewe on Friday.
