Marlon Broomes - definitely training with the Clarets
As pre-season training formally got under way Marlon Broomes was the only new face down at Gawthorpe this morning as the players started on their four week campaign to reach full fitness in time for the start of the new season.

The former Blackburn defender is a free agent after playing for Sheffield Wednesday during the second half of last season. He was training with Blackpool initially but has now joined the Clarets in the hope that he will impress enough to win a contract.

Meanwhile all the players who have had close season operations were back in training this morning. Paul Weller (knee op) was there alongside both Robbie Blake and Ian Moore who have had hernia operations.

The first game for the Clarets will be in the Isle of Man against Wrexham and that is in twelve days time with a game against Luton two days later.

For now though the players will be building up their fitness levels in time for the new season.
