There were outstanding displays all around the Burnley side last week but Lee Briscoe wasn’t a player who featured heavily in the Man of the Match voting. He has though been selected for this week’s team because it was his goal that won the game but he has won a defensive position in the team.

The Football League said of his selection, "Briscoe’s first half diving header sealed a 1-0 victory for the Clarets in their home clash with in-form Nottingham Forest. The former Sheffield Wednesday man enjoyed a lively game at both ends of the park and met Paul Cook’s cross after 28 minutes to put Burnley in the driving seat. He almost scored a second before the break, but his header from Glen Little’s pass flew over the bar."

The full team selected this week was, James Walker (Walsall), Lee Briscoe (Burnley), Darren Powell (Crystal Palace), Danny Cullip (Brighton), Martin McIntosh (Rotherham), Craig Burley (Derby), Tommy Black (Crystal Palace), Paul Ince (Wolves), Richie Partridge (Coventry), Jorge Leitao (Walsall), Jay Bothroyd (Coventry).
