Briscoe chooses North End

Rotherham were the first to make a move but it became obvious weeks ago that he was not interested in a return to that particular part of South Yorkshire. He didn’t respond to them and Ronnie Moore admitted that there had been no contact although he didn’t think he had signed for someone else.

He has now though in what is a massive change of policy at Deepdale. They usually go for players were are trying to sign rather than players we have just got rid of so a move for Briscoe would have been far more likely three years ago.

Briscoe seems to have been ill over the summer though and is suffering from the same memory loss as Gary Parkinson did, must happen when players move from Burnley to Preston.

He told Preston’s web site that he thought it was time to move on and had turned down Burnley’s offer of a new deal. "There was an offer from Burnley but I decided to move on and took my chance in the market and was pleased to get the offer from Preston."

That’s somewhat surprising because in the week before the last match of last season Briscoe was one of the players who Stan decided NOT to retain at the end of his contract. He was released by our club, there was no offer to stay.

So Brisser becomes the eighth of those players released to have found new deals elsewhere, only Marlon Beresford and youngsters Earl Davis, Andrew Leeson, Mark Rasmussen and Andrew Waine remain without a club.
