Brassy goes at York – sort of

Brassy was incredibly appointed player/manager in the summer of 2003 at the age of 28 but after a good start it has all be downhill for the former Claret.

They went top of the 3rd Division last season after winning all of their first four games but it was false hope for York although even in January they looked in with a real chance of the promotion play offs.

After beating already doomed Carlisle on 10th January they were in 10th place and just three points off the play offs but it wasn’t to get any better. They didn’t one of their remaining twenty games and picked up just another five points from five draws and fifteen points and dropped out of the league in bottom place, six points away from safety.

York allowed him to continue into the Conference but far from setting the lower league alight they would now be in the relegation positions but for Northwich Victoria having ten points deducted.

That has proved to be enough and today coach Viv Busby has taken over as caretaker manager and he will have Brassy in his first squad, he now becomes a player again.

It all proved too much too soon for him and it has been a torrid 2004 – hopefully he’ll be able to get on with playing now.
