Brassy gets York job

It was a major surprise last week when the dispensed with Terry Dolan and became even stranger when they said it was for financial reasons despite the fact that they will continue to pay him for another year, the rest of his contract.

That made it clear that they couldn’t bring anyone in and they have turned to club captain Chris Brass who has today accepted the job of player/manager after taking a few days to consider it.

Brassy is just 27 and probably at his peak as a player and this will surely be a massive test for him. He will be the youngest manager in the Football League by some distance and this must have been a consideration for him.

His assistant comes also comes from the first team squad, Lee Nogan, who is the brother of Brassy’s former Burnley team mate Kurt.

He has just won the Clubman of the Year award at York and of course was one of the most popular players with the fans during his time at Burnley. There won’t be a Clarets fan anywhere who won’t wish Brassy the best of luck in his new role.
