The Clarets’ longest serving player will be coming to the end of his current contract at the end of the season, a two year deal signed at the end of the 2002/03 season, and has agreed a new one year deal to remain with us for next season.

Manager Steve Cotterill spoke highly of the player last night and told the Clarets Trust audience that the deal had been done, it’s been confirmed this morning and the player is delighted with his new deal.

“It’s great for me,” said Branch. “I’ve always said I’m happy here, I’ve spent a lot of time here so I’m just glad its sorted.

“It was sorted out about a month ago but it only took about an hour for me to say yes because I am happy here and didn’t want to move anywhere else.”

That takes the list of players contracted beyond this season to nine as Steve Cotterill continues to build his squad.
