Branch in Team of the Week

Somewhat surprisingly though Branchy’s performances have not earned him a defensive place but in fact he has been named in the side for his performances up front. Yes, the league that he plays in have been so impressed with his performances up front that he wins a place in attack alongside Wolves’ Kenny Miller.

Not long ago they included Walsall midfielder Darren Wrack in the 2nd Division team as a goalkeeper so at least Branchy has been kept in the same division.

The Football League were quick to point out that they in fact are not responsible for these teams when we contacted them today. It is all apparently the fault of the Press Association.

Football League spokesman Ian Christon told Clarets Mad, "When staff at the Press Association put together the statistical side of our Newsletter, which includes the Team of the Week, errors have been made in the past. Usually these are picked up when the document is proof read by League staff, but in the case of Darren Wrack (Walsall) and Graham Branch (Burnley) the errors have unfortunately slipped through the net. I apologise for this error. We do work to keep these mistakes to an absolute minimum."

And so Branchy gets a place up front because it slipped through the net.

The full team was: Mark Crossley (Stoke), Jordan Stewart (Leicester), Hayden Mullins (Crystal Palace), Chris Lucketti (Preston), Sergei Shtaniuk (Stoke), Neal Ardley (Watford), Paul McLaren (Sheffield Wednesday), Michael Brown (Sheffield United), Vinny Samways (Walsall), Graham Branch (Burnley), Kenny Miller (Wolves).
