There were more firsts for Boyd too; he's won his first Clarets Mad man of the match award as well as adding a first place in the player ratings, both of them ahead of Kieran Trippier who took second place.
Boyd was an easy winner of the man of the match award. He polled 66.9% of the vote, beating the previous highest of the season which was the 61% claimed by Scott Arfield in the home game against Chelsea. It's also the highest in a year since Sam Vokes won 70.1% of the vote in last season's 3-0 home win against Charlton.
Trippier was the only other player to reach double figures, and only just; he had 10% of the vote whilst his fellow defenders Michael Duff and Ben Mee shared third place with 5.2% of the vote each.
Boyd and Trippier were the only players to go past seven out of ten in the player ratings. Boyd scored 7.72 out of 10 and that's three ratings higher than 7.5 in his five games for the club.
Trippier's rating was 7.41 with Danny Ings and Mee taking third and fourth places with 6.64 and 6.33 out of 10 respectively.
The result gives Boyd the maximum ten points towards the Clarets Mad Player of the Year. Trippier collects six points with three for Mee and two for both Duff and Ings.
Those points have made little difference to the table with Scott Arfield and Lukas Jutkiewicz still some way ahead and Arfield retaining that 14 point lead over the striker.
The next vote will be for the Everton game and will be available within an hour of the final whistle on Sunday.
