The two players took the top two positions in the vote and the ratings with each of them winning one and finishing second in the other.
Boyd it was who won the man of the match with 31.7% of the vote, ahead of Jones who claimed a 22.1% share for second place.
The two strikers weren't too far behind; Ashley Barnes came third with 17.6% and Danny Ings was fourth with 16.4% of the vote.
The player ratings saw the top two swap places, but only just. Jones was the winner with a rating of 7.88 and just behind, with 7.85 out of 10, came Jones.
Again it was the two strikers following them; Barnes again third with a rating of 7.58 and Ings claiming fourth place with a rating of 7.50 out of 10.
That result gave both Boyd and Jones eight points towards the Clarets Mad Player of the Year with Barnes winning four points and two points for Ings.
Ings is not 17 points clear of Jason Shackell at the top, but there are a number of players closing in on the captain for that second place.
Boyd is now just three points behind with Barnes joining Scott Arfield in fourth place another five points behind Boyd.
The Man United result will be confirmed tomorrow but below is the result from the West Brom game with the updated player of the year table.
