Bond back in football

The man Burnley fans love to hate is back in football at the age of 74, some 23 years after he left Turf Moor following one year in charge. Whilst Northwich delay the announcement of their new manager they have moved to bring in Bond to this role of football consultant.

Chairman Mike Connett said: "John Bond is going to be a consultant on football matters. It is loose, but there is an arrangement and so whoever is in place as manager they know if they have got any problems they can talk to somebody who is the daddy of them all. I don't think you can get better than that."

That's how it must be at that level, Bond is as good as it gets. Apparently the manager coming in has Premiership experience - surely John Benson hasn't opted to leave his position at Wigan to take over. Now that would be a partnership made somewhere other than heaven.

Good luck Northwich, you might just need it.
