The 19 year-old was in the Belgian Under-19 squad for the UEFA European Under-19 Championships in July last year and signed for Spurs from Royal Excelsior Mouscron directly after the tournament.

Born in Ypres he first played for Union Ploegsteert before moving to Royal Excelsior Mouscron in 1996.

He finally made his full Belgian league debut in September 2001, against Standard Liege and made a Premiership bow for Spurs against Southampton at White Hart Lane in August 2002 as a substitute for Milenko Acemovic.

There has only been one other sub appearance since although earlier this season he did make his first Spurs start in the Carling Cup at Coventry as Spurs won 3-0. He played the first hour before being replaced by Rohan Ricketts.

He is out injured just now but the news from London is that as soon as he is fit he will be on his way to the Turf although it is expected to be a loan move only with little chance of the deal being made permanent.
