Blakey by a mile

The current players seem to be very much everyone's choice and with Glen so popular we did expect him to win his place in the side but probably didn't expect to see him pick up the massive 81.9% of the vote.

No other player picked up double figures and John Francis came in second with 9.6% and Paul Weller was third with just 5.1%. The other three were even further behind, John Mullin collecting 1.7%, Brad Maylett 1% and Mark Robertson just 0.7%.

Glen as been with the Clarets for over five years now, signed by Adrian Heath on the recommendation of Billy Hamilton, and only Paul Weller has been at the club longer. He never really won a place under Heath and it was Waddle who gave him his first regular run in the side from which he has never looked back.

There has been lots of speculation of a move to the Premiership but it has never materialised. The only definite offer for him we ever became aware of was from Port Vale at a time when they were a division above us. It is probably the injuries that have prevented him getting a chance in the Premiership and I don't think too many Burnley fans will be complaining about the fact that he is still at the Turf and has two more years on his current contract.

Now though we turn out attentions to the other side of midfield, the left hand side, as out team starts to come together. As always the poll is on the right hand side of the front page and will run until Sunday.

Next Monday we will look at the results and then move into the centre of midfield.

The team so far is:

Marlon Beresford

Dean West

Steve Davis

Arthur Gnohere

Lee Briscoe

Glen Little
