Blake wins second goal title

Robbie Blake
Six years ago, Robbie took the third Clarets Mad goal title with his stunning free kick at the cricket field end against Gillingham. On that occasion he shared the title with Lee Roche, for his goal on the opening day of the season against Crystal Palace.

This time though there was no doubt and he's coasted to the title with 70% of the vote for his goal against Manchester United at the Turf, also scored at the cricket field end of the ground.

It was our first goal in the Premier League on a special night when the then champions came to Turf Moor and went home with nothing as Blake's goal ensured we got off to a winning start at home.

I don't know how many times it's been shown on television but I don't think anyone would tire of watching his stunning strike on the volley that left United keeper Ben Foster with no earthly chance of getting near it.

Robbie scored just twice all season, and his second goal, the opener at Ewood Park, too second place with 9.2% of the vote.

And that left the other contenders picking up just over 20% between them with three goals - Andre Bikey (v Birmingham), Wade Elliott (at Hull) and Jack Cork (v Spurs) all claiming 2.8% of the vote to take joint third place.

Robbie therefore takes the title from Martin Paterson who won it last year with his goal in the second leg of the play off semi-final at Reading.

Now, as we continue to look back at the season, we ask you to vote for the performance of the season. All the wins and draws are there to choose from in the voting poll.
