Blake takes last match award

Robbie Blake
Robbie Blake - best player at Palace
Such was the poor quality of the performance that the ratings were very low and that allowed Blake to collect the three points with a rating as low as 6.73 out of 10. Goalkeeper Brian Jensen, who couldn't be blamed in any way for the heavy defeat, took second place and his rating at 6.09 was only just above the 6 for an average performance.

Youngster Alex MacDonald, making just his second substitute appearance in the first team, did enough in twenty minutes on the pitch to secure the third place although his rating of 5.91 was as low as we've been for a third place.

The same three players took the top three places in the man of the match poll, that is once the nonsensical votes for Clarke Carlisle had been removed. Again it was Blake in first after he polled 36.5% of the vote. MacDonald was second with 14.6% and 10.4% secured third place for Brian Jensen.

Wade Elliott had already secured our Player of the Year award but with his disappointing form in the last few weeks of the season the lead in the end was just four points with Robbie getting into second place ahead of Carlisle. By the end of the season they were well ahead of anyone else.
