Blake storms into best team

Robbie Blake
Robbie first joined the Clarets in January 2002 but injury ended his season. However, from the summer of 2002 for two and a half years he was a vital member of the side. He was leading scorer in the 2003/04 season and was ahead again in the next season when he was in superb form before moving to Birmingham in January 2005.

He returned ahead of the 2007/08 season and has missed just one game since, the away draw at Barnsley in October 2007. He's again been a vital member of the side and in the last season has arguably been in the form of his life, and that despite being only used as a substitute at times in the early part of the season.

Ever popular with the Burnley fans it was no surprise to see him win this first vote, claiming exactly half of the votes. Andy Payton, who only played one full season in these ten years, was a deserving second with 36.7% of the vote.

Such did these two dominate the vote that the other fourteen had to share the rest. Ian Wright, such an influence in our last promotion, came third with 3.0% whilst Martin Paterson was next with 2.6% of the vote.

Blake steps into the team that now needs just one more player to complete it. The vote for that second striker is now underway and will run until the end of Monday. Again, as always, it can be found on the front page of the site.

From Tuesday of next week we'll have the final vote to select the manager for the team.
