Blake in the reserves - both teams named

Stan has named a strong line up and included all five substitutes from Saturday’s game at Palace but the big surprise, no the shock, is the inclusion of Blake who has started every first team game since he was brought back into the team for the win at Derby at the beginning of September.

The line up is strong and only three players who start the game do so without any first team experience, defender Andrew Leeson, midfielder Andrew Waine and winger Mark Rasmussen. The latter two have though been unused substitutes in recent first team games.

This means others who have recently been first team subs, Earl Davis and Matthew O’Neill, now find themselves on the reserve team bench along with keeper James Salisbury who sits this one out as Nik Michopoulos gets a game.

The full Burnley team is: Nik Michopoulos, Andrew Leeson, Ian Cox, Mark McGregor, Gordon Armstrong, Mark Rasmussen, Robbie Blake, Andrew Waine, Alan Moore, Dimitri Papadopoulos, Andy Payton. Subs: James Salisbury, Earl Davis, Joel Pilkington, Matthew O’Neill, Anthony Shandran.

Rotherham will also field a strong side with Alan Lee and Mark Robins up front. They also include players such as Adrian Monkhouse and Stewart Talbot as well as Danny Hudson who will be playing his first game for the Millers for three months having just returned from a loan period at Doncaster Rovers.

The Rotherham team is: Ian Gray, Craig Mudd, Tom Smith, Danny Hudson, Shaun Barker, Guy Branston, Paul Warne, Stewart Talbot, Alan Lee, Mark Robins, Adrian Monkhouse. Subs: Chris Bowler, Danny Fells, Andrew Jones, Andrew Middlebrook, Will Hoskins.
