Blake could be facing operation

Suggestions from the club's official site were that the decision to take off Blake after just 20 minutes was purely tactical although they later changed that when Stan said he was feeling his stomach again.

Today thought it looks as though the news could be even worse and according to sources close to the club he could be facing a longer spell on the sidelines as he needs a hernia operation.

This has not been confirmed by anyone at Burnley Football Club and as such it is speculation, we have been unable to contact anyone at the club to confirm or deny it.

Should he need the operation, and a six week lay off is the likely outcome, this will be a major blow for the Clarets in their promotion push. Blake was brought in at end of last month after Stan had said he needed to strengthen the squad. We have put all our eggs in one basket with this signing and Barry Kilby at the recent Foundation Forum admitted to members that the club had stretched themselves to bring him in.

Hopefully he won't be needing an operation but it certainly doesn't look as though he is going to be in the squad to face his old club Bradford City tomorrow.
