It was no surprise to see Derby beat Charlton at Pride Park to reduce the gap between us once more to ten points, but the one match of some concern, particularly for Burnley fans of a nervous disposition, was that between QPR and Blackpool at Loftus Road.
Our hopes were in the hands of a Blackpool team who had managed just one point from their last eleven away games, that coming in a 0-0 draw at Ipswich. QPR, meanwhile, had sort of found some momentum again with four wins in the previous six games.
A home win would see our lead over them reduced to seven points which is still a healthy lead with only seven games remaining, but help was very much at hand with the Scottish striker Blackpool currently have with them from Blackburn.
With just eleven minutes gone it was 1-0 to Blackpool with David Goodwillie scoring his second Blackpool goal. That would have been a fantastic result but Junior Hoilett, a former Blackburn player, grabbed an equaliser on 78 minutes.
Even so, this was a very good result for us and we can now travel to Watford with a nine point advantage and that's a massive bonus for us having been beaten by Leicester who are surely going to be promoted for certain within the next couple of weeks.
Wigan, held to a draw at Bolton, and Reading, who drew at home against Huddersfield, currently make up the play-off places with QPR and Derby with Nottingham Forest and Ipswich just a couple of points behind.
Suddenly the positivity is beginning to drain from some Burnley fans. We've just lost for the first time since Boxing Day but with injuries to key players they are now taking concerns to a new level. Just today the message board has seen threads relating to West Brom's wonderful finish in 2002 and even a suggestion that we should have signed either Leroy Lita or Robert Earnshaw.
I'm not really bothered into checking who we all have to play just yet, but some are. So here you go, here are the remaining fixtures for the teams in 2nd, 3rd and 4th places in the league.
Burnley: Watford (a), Barnsley (a), Middlesbrough (h), Blackpool (a), Wigan (h), Ipswich (h), Reading (a)
QPR: Bournemouth (a), Blackburn (a), Nottingham Forest (h), Leicester (a), Watford (h), Millwall (h), Barnsley (a)
Derby: Middlesbrough (a), Blackpool (a), Huddersfield (h), Doncaster (a), Barnsley (h), Watford (h), Leeds (a)
Moving swiftly down to the bottom of the league and Saturday was a bad day for Yeovil. The bottom three all started the day on 32 points with two of them, Yeovil and Barnsley, facing each other at Huish Park.
Barnsley were big winners while Millwall, who kicked off in bottom place, drew at home against Blackburn. At least two of those three will surely go down now with Charlton the only other candidate. Barnsley are now behind them only on goal difference but Charlton still have ten games to play.
That's March over and it looks as though our former manager Eddie Howe is going to win the manager of the month award from Sean Dyche.
Bournemouth are the only team this month with more points than us. They have 19 points from 8 games with the Clarets having won 16 points from 7 games. Just behind are Leicester, Wigan and QPR who have all won 14 points.
