Big local wins for fans team

Friendlies against two local rivals concluded our pre-season schedule in the past fortnight. Blackburn Rovers and Accrington Stanley are two teams that we would not normally get to face. They both play in a rival supporters competition- the Northern Football Supporters League.

We've had the option to join them in the NFSL on numerous occasions and although the chance to face these teams was tempting, we feel we would benefit more from continuing to play our trade in the IFA Supporters League- in which we will kick-off our second full campaign this weekend.

Pre-season, however, gave us the opportunity for a couple of friendly games against our neighbours. On Sunday we faced Stanley Ultras FC. A Brad Mansell drive and Ste Wynne header secured a 2-0 win. The big game, however, was seven days previous.

In preparation for the big derby at Ewood in a couple of week, we faced the blue and white of Blackburn Rovers. And if the Premier League fixture comes anywhere remotely close to mirroring this one, there will be some very happy faces around the town on the 18th October.

Goals from Ric Davies, Ste Wynne, Brad Mansell, Matty Booth and an own goal secured a fantastic 11-1 win for the Clarets.

The local theme continues on Saturday as our first league game of the season is against Preston North End away. And we still have a few players available for sponsor. Sponsoring a player benefits the Supporters Team and the Clarets Mad Youth Foundation. Click HERE for more details.
