Big games were the best ones

Robbie Blake - scored the winner in the performance of the season
Over the last few days we asked you to vote for what you considered to be our best performance of the season and it was these three games, two of which were won, that came out on top in the vote.

It was no surprise that the 1-0 win against Manchester United came out on top and it claimed 44.3% of the vote. It was our first win in the Premier League and was won with what proved to be the goal of the season from Robbie Blake.

There were no real challengers to this game but it was the two games against the North London clubs that took the next two places with December's 1-1 draw against Arsenal taking second place with 19.4% of the vote.

It was probably as good a game of football as I've seen in many a year watching Burnley. Arsenal tore us apart for a spell in the first half but scored just the one goal through Cesc Fabregas.

A penalty from Graham Alexander brought us level and once Fabregas had gone off the game changed. We could so easily have won it and should have done only for a Steven Fletcher goal to be wrongly ruled offside.

The home season started with that win against United, and it ended with another sensational win as we came from two goals behind to beat Spurs 4-2 and that game came third, claiming 13.5% of the vote.

I think many feared another Manchester City when Gareth Bale scored in the opening minutes, and certainly another defeat was likely once Luka Modric had made it two. But a Wade Elliott goal just before half time gave us a chance and further goals from Jack Cork, man of the match Martin Paterson and Steven Thompson saw us score four at home in the top flight for the first time since Peter Noble scored all four in a 4-4 draw against Norwich in September 1975.
