Having to withdraw last time has not worked against him though and he's back in Levein's squad for these two important Euro 2012 qualifiers.
The first of those games is a week tomorrow, 8th October, against the Czech Republic in Prague and that's followed up with a game against World champions Spain at Hampden Park on the Tuesday afterwards.
Iwelumo is currently the second highest goalscorer in the Championship with QPR's Jamie Mackie the only player with more goals, and Mackie joins him in the Scotland squad for the first time.
Rangers' Lee McCulloch will miss the first of the two games suspended, and alongside Iwelumo in the squad are two former Clarets in Jay McEveley and Steven Fletcher, now with Barnsley and Wolves respectively.
