Last updated : 29 March 2016 By The Editor's Chair

The Clarets v Leeds United match on April 9th, 2016 will see "Burnley FC in the Community" take over Turf Moor!

‘Community Day’ is an annual event that aims to raise awareness for Burnley FC’s official charity and help to raise vital funds to support its work across Burnley, Pendle, Rossendale, the Ribble Valley and West Yorkshire.

There will be plenty of information about Burnley FC in the Community available in and around the stadium on the day, with staff on hand to showcase the work of the charity across its key areas of Sports Participation, Education, Health and Social Inclusion.

As a registered charity, Burnley FC in the Community was founded in February 2014, from a starting point of just three members of staff and zero funding. In the space of just two years, the organisation has seen remarkable growth and now delivers 30 community projects and employs 30 local people. In 2015 alone, the charity engaged with 35,000 people.

It now costs over £1m per year to ensure Burnley FC in the Community can continue to deliver its life-changing work, the charity will also be fundraising at the game. Fans are being encouraged to bring £1 on the day in a show of support – a campaign that has been backed by Sean Dyche and the entire first team squad. Fans can drop their one pounds into the buckets held by collectors on the day or fans also have the option to text-to-donate.

Neil Hart, CEO of Burnley FC in the Community said, “We have had an unbelievable two years in the Community department and we want to see this continued growth for a long time. If every Burnley fan brings just £1 to the game, we can raise a huge amount of money and every penny will go directly to helping so many people in Burnley and the surrounding areas.”

You can text to donate your £1 at any time by texting ‘BFCC16 £1’ to 70070.

Clarets Mad fully support this marvellous charity and hope the day proves a huge success both on and off the field of play! (TEC)
