Last updated : 02 February 2004 By Tony Scholes

The walk was only announced a week ago but already Ben and Paul have raised a guaranteed £400 through cheques arriving in Lancaster and through them getting out the begging bowls at the Central Lancs monthly meeting last week.

Both of them are in training and Paul told Clarets Mad that he had already given up drinking until after the walk. Ben, carrying two litre bottles of strong Somerset cider, said he would be leaving it until a week before.

The route, which is shown below will see them depart Lancaster on the Friday morning, 20th February, at 8 o’clock. They will be heading through the Trough of Bowland and are aiming to be at Dunsop Bridge by 2:00 p.m. before reaching their overnight destination of Waddington by 5:00 p.m.

Saturday will see them leave Waddington at 7:00 a.m and head for Burnley via Clitheroe, Sabden and Padiham. It is hoped they will be joined by other members of the Clarets Mad message board when they reach the Clarets training ground at Gawthorpe during Saturday morning.

Once in Burnley they will be having lunch at the Bridge Bier Huis before leaving for Turf Moor to arrive at the ground via Harry Potts Way at around 2:00 p.m. where they will be met by Burnley Football Club officials.

You can still sponsor them, see details below on where to send it, and keep a look out for them as they make their way to Burnley on the Saturday morning.
