Beeby is back

Last updated : 30 January 2009 By Tony Scholes
We've had some fun with our Richard Beeby over the years. His dismissals of Micah Hyde and Frank Sinclair were very harsh and in the game in between the James O'Connor red card against Millwall was so ridiculous even the FA overturned it. That was the game when he sent off a player for racial abuse, a claim the player has always continued to deny.

His last Burnley game was at Bramall Lane last season and he had a much quieter, and better, game overall. However, he certainly got a couple of decisions wrong and had he allowed the David Unsworth headed goal we would probably have gone on to win that game.

This season he's been reasonably quiet with his yellow cards. There have been 46 in 20 games with six red cards to be added to that. Of those yellow cards 17 have gone to home team players and 29 to away team players.

Although this will be his first Burnley game in over fourteen months it is his second Charlton game this season. He refereed their opening day win against Swansea in a game in which Swansea's Gary Monk was sent off.

What we get from Beeby tomorrow is anyone's guess, at least he won't be upsetting Steve Cotterill this time.

He will be assisted by Scott Duncan and Garry Wallace (both Tyne & Wear) whilst the fourth official will be Gary Hilton (Lancashire).
