Beast takes honours at Grimsby

It is no surprise, and ending the game with a save in the shoot out was not his only vital moment of the evening. He made more than a couple of good saves, but the one most will remember is during the first half of extra time with the Clarets already 1-0 down.

From the far end of the ground in the Donny Osmond Stand I thought our exit from the Carling Cup had been confirmed as a long range strike headed for the top corner of the net to Jensen's right, it was even curling away from him. He got to it, and somehow got a finger tip to it to turn it onto the bar.

That gives Jensen six points and that means he and Kyle are now the joint leaders in our player of the season voting after the first two games.

Andy Gray and debutant David Unsworth have taken second place (Gray in the ratings, Unsworth in the voting) whilst they swap places for third place with Robbie Blake joint third with Unsworth in the ratings.

The points to date:

6: Brian Jensen & Kyle Lafferty
5: Andy Gray
3: Michael Duff & David Unsworth
2: Wayne Thomas
1: Robbie Blake
