Beasant was the man on trial

Sean Evans - he's not coming on trial
Beasant is the nephew of Dave Beasant the former goalkeeper of Wimbledon and a host of other clubs and it is hardly surprising that he plays in the same position. He was an apprentice with Watford but was released by them at the end of last season.

He's now with Chesham United and playing behind a team in claret & blue last night would have been no change for him as the British Gas Southern League Midlands club play in the same colours.

He had no chance with the goal last night and also made a number of good stops. I think it is fair to say that kicking is not his strongest point (he doesn't follow his uncle in that respect) and most of the goal kicks were taken by defenders.

Now for the trialist that didn't show - Sean Evans. The first inkling that he might not be playing came before I even got inside the ground and saw the team sheet. It was the suggestion from Owen Coyle that he hadn't seen him play and didn't know about him.

This site picked up on the news earlier in the week, but it wasn't news at all. We weren't the only ones locally to fall into this particular trap and it even made the BBC. He didn't play last night, and he won't be playing for us. Owen found it all quite amusing. We'll check with him next time.
