BBC at the Turf

John Motson - could be set for his first live commentary from the Turf
The news was revealed today and that means the Clarets will pocket another £265,000 immediately in what is proving to be a very lucrative cup run. Already we have picked up £150,000 from the coverage of the Liverpool tie and another £100,000 in prize money.

That means, match receipts apart, we have already made over half a million pounds from the FA Cup that is above any budgets. With a big crowd for the Liverpool match, and at least one more for the Blackburn match, to be added it is going to be a tidy profit for a club that will soon be able to cast aside any financial worries.

As for the BBC, it will be the first time they will have shown live action from a Burnley home game since we took on Hamburg in the European Cup quarter-final over forty-four years ago. It could mean another unpleasant day for Mark Lawrenson who was not happy as he sat and watched Liverpool beaten from the Turf Moor press box recently whilst it could well be a first live Turf Moor commentary from the tedious John Motson.

We’ll be giving you ticket details shortly for the game which as we have said will be played on Sunday 20th February, kicking off at 1:40 p.m.
