The goalkeeping position was the first to be filled as we look for our Championship team of the season and from a choice of fourteen goalkeepers it was Bristol City's Brazilian stopper who came out on top with 26.6% of the vote.

The 33-year-old goalkeeper has been in league football for less than three years after City signed him from Woking in October 2005. He became current manager Gary Johnson's first signing for the club following his move from Yeovil. Basso has missed less than a handful of games since.

He moved to England from his native Brazil as recently as 2004 and played for St. Albans City before moving on to Woking later that year. He gets help in goal too. A devout Christian he credited a recent penalty save against Watford's Darius Henderson to the 'Holy Spirit'.

He won the vote reasonably comfortably with Wolves goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey taking second place with 16.8% after completing his first season in the first team because of the injury to Matt Murray.

Two goalkeepers took joint third place. One of them, Dean Kiely, is already looking forward to Premier League football next season after finishing top with West Brom. He polled 12.3% of the vote as did Hull's Boaz Myhill. The American keeper will be at the opposite end of Wembley to Basso this weekend.

The goalkeeper is in place, now is your chance to add a right back to the team. There are sixteen choices in the voting poll which is now running and will be available via the front page through to the end of Friday.
