Bad week for non-league ex-Clarets

Gerry Harrison - no deal at York
Hoskin left his post over a week ago at the request of Rossendale United who had given him just over a handful of games before dispensing with his services. Given that it was the club’s decision to make the change it is hardly likely that it could be described as a resignation.

He wasn’t the only one to lose his job either and after almost three years at Stalybridge Celtic it was time for David Miller to leave.

He has been replaced by Peter Wragg but leaves with praise from the club and Chairman Peter Dennely said, “It wasn’t an easy decision to part with David Miller, who has done an excellent job for the best part of three seasons. He knows he will always be welcome at Stalybridge.”

Gerry Harrison left Leigh RMI to join his former Turf Moor team mate Chris Brass at York but it hasn’t lasted and he has now left Bootham Crescent because of financial constraints.

Gerry was used as a sub in York’s LDV Vans Trophy game against Blackpool in midweek but it proved to be his last appearance for the Minstermen with Brassy admitting that they couldn’t afford him.

“Unfortunately we have had to call it a day with him,” Brassy said. “He wants to stay and is prepared to continue to play for nothing but unfortunately at this moment in time we won’t be able to offer him a deal so he may have to move on to pastures new.

“He’s disappointed, I’m disappointed, but unfortunately we are not in a position where we can offer him a deal at this moment in time.”
